One of Australia’s most acclaimed architects and urban designers has accepted an invitation to become Head of the Design Panel for the Sullivans Cove Waterfront Authority.

Professor Peter Elliott
Professor Peter Elliott, of Melbourne, is an award winning practitioner with more than 30 years of experience on public projects, especially the reinvigoration of under-utilised urban space. Peter’s work in Tasmania includes the Riawunna Aboriginal Education Centre and Faculty of Arts Precinct at the University of Tasmania, Launceston. |

Sandra Hogue
Sandra, Senior Planning Consultant at Hydro Tasmania, has more than 18 years of experience with Councils, State Government and private consulting in Tasmania and the UK, including six years as a Tasmanian Heritage Councillor.

Barrie Shelton
Barrie is Sesquicentennial Senior Lecturer in Urban Design, University of Sydney. His 30-year career includes teaching, practice, writing and research in Australia and overseas. In 1982, Barrie curated the ‘Henry Hunter — Architect, Hobart Town’ exhibition at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. Most recently Barrie was lead consultant for the Hobart Waterfront Urban Design Framework. |

Leigh Woolley
Leigh is an architect and urban design consultant who has worked extensively for private clients and all levels of government, within Australia, the UK and southeast Asia. He has received numerous design awards and has been a Churchill Fellowship recipient comparing urban design policy in cities with dominant topographies. |

Invitation: Conversations in the Cove
The Sullivans Cove Waterfront Authority is pleased to announce the launch of Conversations in the Cove, a series of informal, free discussions exploring themes and issues relating to the Hobart Waterfront and beyond.
The topic of the inaugural event will be ‘The Nature of Good Contemporary Design’, with special guest Professor Peter Elliott, Head of the Design Panel for the Sullivans Cove Waterfront Authority.

If you would like to be notified about planning applications submitted for consideration by the Authority, simply add your name to our message list and you will receive automatic email notification when discretionary planning applications are received.

Since opening our doors on 4 April 2005, the Sullivans Cove Waterfront Authority has held meetings with more than 400 individuals and organisations interested in the future of Sullivans Cove and its surrounding areas, including representatives from fields as diverse as small and medium-sized business; the transport, tourism, and food and beverage sectors; accommodation operators and service industries.
